TCM Sonshine Camp, Trista’s update
Over the previous week, we worked at TCM Sonshine Camp as a Mission Team and got to meet a lot of different kids and adults with all types of backgrounds. Within the week, we got to know the kids and learned that most of them just recently moved to Canada and about what is now popular among kids, which still left me a little clueless afterwards.
During the week we host both games and live worship on separate days, which in itself was very hectic. I felt like I was frolicking on stage for the kids to watch, yet they seemed to have enjoyed our performance, dancing and singing along with us. As for games, it was unsurprising that they were excited for it, but it was fairly obvious that they also didn’t enjoy the heat they were playing in, which caused us to move back into the indoor gym, which was fine too.
Overall these kids were all very well behaved and like to contribute their questions and thoughts during their Bible studies, you can tell that they enjoyed their time at this camp and the people who come help at the camp as well.
Within the week, we also had the opportunity to bring the kids we were working with over at Don Valley Village to another camp located downtown. With about 23 kids riding the public transport, all of them were surprisingly well behaved and eager to not get lost on their way there. Once we arrived there, there were a total of 75 kids, so kudos to everyone there that helped out because it is not easy to deal with that many kids whether they are well behaved or not. Honestly I would've loved to have more people helping but we somehow managed anyway.
