Guatemala short-term mission opportunity

ETCBC has been invited by Barb and Gerry Normand, our supported missionaries from Guatemala for an opportunity to support and partner with them. Find their message to us below:

After a two-year pause and much prayerful consideration, we have decided to host Un Nuevo Encuentro (A New Encounter) in the municipality in 2026 over five weeks: February 20 to March 31.

Un Nuevo Encuentro recalls the events that led to the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion and His resurrection. Creative and interactive devotionals enable partakers to ponder where they fit in the greatest story ever told, provide an opportunity to accept Christ, and encourage them to live as His disciples.

Due to the availability of a building centrally located in Sumpango (The Bridge), we have a God-sized vision for Encuentro 2026 and will need some muscle power to set up the event, as well as prayer warriors who are gifted in encouraging others.

Conversations during our most recent visit have confirmed that there is a keen interest to serve alongside us. It must be noted that the usual PILAS schedule will continue to run during the event Un Nuevo Encuentro, providing the team members an enjoyable learning experience through cultural immersion as well as various ways to serve and share their faith.

We therefore have a proposal for you to consider:

FEBRUARY 2026 READING WEEK TEAM

• Maximum four people. Preferably young adults with a strong interest in learning more about missions and how to join God in His work.

• Arrival Saturday February 14. Return to Canada Sunday February 22. (Or Saturday February 21.)

• Costs: Flight, health insurance, special projects, $50/full day in ministry home.
