ETCBC has been invited by Barb and Gerry Normand, our supported missionaries from Guatemala for an opportunity to support and partner with them. Find their message to us below:
After a two-year pause and much prayerful consideration, we have decided to host Un Nuevo Encuentro (A New Encounter) in the municipality in 2026 over five weeks: February 20 to March 31.
Un Nuevo Encuentro recalls the events that led to the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion and His resurrection. Creative and interactive devotionals enable partakers to ponder where they fit in the greatest story ever told, provide an opportunity to accept Christ, and encourage them to live as His disciples.
Due to the availability of a building centrally located in Sumpango (The Bridge), we have a God-sized vision for Encuentro 2026 and will need some muscle power to set up the event, as well as prayer warriors who are gifted in encouraging others.
Conversations during our most recent visit have confirmed that there is a keen interest to serve alongside us. It must be noted that the usual PILAS schedule will continue to run during the event Un Nuevo Encuentro, providing the team members an enjoyable learning experience through cultural immersion as well as various ways to serve and share their faith.
We therefore have a proposal for you to consider:
FEBRUARY 2026 READING WEEK TEAM

• Costs: Flight, health insurance, special projects, $50/full day in ministry home.
Please contact Doret (doret.cheng@etcbc.org) if you are interested.
Public forum on mental health, racism, and public safety: Nov 27
Our church is partnering with a local multi-faith alliance to host a public forum addressing mental health, racism, and public safety in our community…
We have been part of a multi-faith alliance organized by our local MP, Salma Zahid. On November 27, we're hosting a public forum organized by this alliance on the topic of Mental Health, Racism, and Public Safety. Through this forum, the hope is for attendees to:
Gain insights into the forms and impacts of mental health challenges, and resources available for support;
Address what it means to be anti-racist, and explore practical strategies to combat systemic racism and ways to create inclusive spaces for all; and
Learn about strategies/resources/tools available to ensure public safety of individuals and communities.
Whether you would like to come attend or help, this is a great opportunity for our community to use our building to bless our local community. Please talk to Pastor Willi for more information.
When: Thursday, November 27
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Where: ETCBC Inner Court (22 Carnforth Rd., Toronto)
Kitchen reminder
We’re grateful for everyone who helps care for our shared spaces—here’s the latest kitchen update and a few helpful reminders…
Many thanks to the Cantonese Caleb Fellowship seniors for helping clean the kitchen fridges and cabinets on October 29! They did a great job clearing out expired and unlabeled food items. To keep our kitchen clean and safe, the office would like to remind everyone of the following:
After church meals, please try not to leave any food or cooking supplies (such as seasonings or butter) in the fridge.
If you need to store food temporarily, please make sure it’s labeled with your name and the date you plan to remove it.
The office will clean the fridge every Monday.
Let’s all work together to keep our church kitchen tidy and welcoming for everyone.
